Rationale & Vision for ARC
ARC (the Association of Romsey Churches) exists to promote greater unity and cooperation between Christians in Romsey

We seek to work together with the ministers in areas of common concern and mission which will be agreed at each AGM. This work will be delegated to a series of working groups. Initially, building on what we do at present these are:
• Worship & Discipleship (‘Week of Prayer for Christian Unity’ and ‘Lent Groups’)
• Hope activities
• Environmental group
• Ministers meeting
• Youth and Children

Remit of groups:
• There will be a minister in each group (but not chairman)
• These groups will be to promote the causes related rather than just develop initiatives and events
• The groups will have delegated powers to spend up to and agreed sum (say £150) after which they will need to refer to the ARC executive.
• The groups will be able to co-opt those with skills and passions in these areas.
• The groups will be expected to meet once or twice between meetings as workload dictates.
• Other areas of work will be considered and prioritized each year at the AGM
• Each group will seek to ensure good representation across the churches
• Groups will send notes via the secretary to be distributed to all members prior to full ARC meetings.

The ARC meeting will then meet 4-5 times a year with reports back and proposals from these groups (one of these meetings will be the AGM)

We will also seek to promote greater awareness of Christian life and activities and look to the Chair of ARC (or other) to be spokesperson with the media on all our activities.

• The above rationale was developed from the Ministers fraternal meeting.
• ARC meeting to provide accountability and consist of one representative from each church and one representative from each ‘group’.
• ARC executive to comprise Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-chair.
• The first meeting of each ‘group’ to define their own terms of reference.
• Go back to churches to enlist enthusiasts for participation in ‘groups’
• Adopt structure at AGM and elect conveners for each group
