About Romsey Baptist Church

E-mail Print PDF

The Baptist Church celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2000, worshipping in a building that dates from 1811.  The buildings have been regularly extended, to include a hall in the 1920s and additional rooms to the south side in 1972; the size of the worship area was increased in 1992. The latest extension was completed early in 2004 giving additional rooms upstairs, complete with another staircase, and better use of the downstairs area behind the sanctuary.

At present we have 133 members. Until November 2008 full membership was open only to those who have undergone believers’ baptism by immersion, with communicant membership open to other believers. In November 2008 the church adopted a new constitution that includes "open membership".

The minister is Rev Iain Stephenson
